What is a regulated mixed anaerobic digester?
A

What does the process of anaerobic digestion do to livestock manure?
A
AD technology is a form of manure treatment that can reduce pathogens and weed seeds, minimize pest larvae, remove odours, and enhance nutrient value to the soil.

A
At this point, there are no other programs that support biogas development in the form of an energy contract.

No, biogas would be eligible under OPA’s FIT Program only.

Do in-series meter (or behind the meter) configurations qualify for FIT?
A

What is Hydro One's Distance Limitation Rule and what could it mean for my biogas project?
A
Hydro One has It depends on voltage. For feeders <15kV (which covers most biogas), the maximum distance is effectively 12km. Although the majority of existing projects are within 12km of a DS, it does cut out many rural areas.

What options are available to satisfy the FIT environmental eligibility criteria?
A
Depending on the choice of inputs, a biogas system could be regulated under the Nutrient Management Act as a regulated, mixed AD system or it could be regulated under the Environmental Protection Act under the Renewable Energy Approval (REA) process.
