APAO seeks to promote the develop the renewable energy potential of agricultural areas. The majority of our projects so far have been in agricultural biogas, which fits seamlessly into many farming operations. Biogas systems can be implemented in conjunction with dairy farms, chicken farms, hog operations and greenhouses. They allow farms to provide their own heat and power, as well as to export power to the Ontario grid under Ontario’s new Feed-In Tariff (FIT) program).

Interest is growing in solar applications, particularly the installation of photovoltaic panels on barn roofs. Many farmers are also interested in wind power and biomass projects. APAO can assist all farmers with the decision as to what forms of renewable energy make the most sense for their circumstances.
