Farm to Fuel Biomethane Project

APAO was successful in receiving federal government support to prepare a developer’s guide to biomethane production. This project will compile information related to technology, financing, feedstock mapping, policy and protocols through research and stakeholder consultation in a manner that frames a new market opportunity for biogas and informs interested parties of the development pathway. Funding for this project has been provided in part by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Canadian Agricultural Adaptation Program (CAAP). In Ontario, this program is delivered by the Agricultural Adaptation Program.

Optimizing Anaerobic Digestion for Increased Performance and Biogas Production

Water Environment Association of Ontario’s Influents Magazine – Fall 2011
By Dr. Bill Barber

Barber discusses the place of anaerobic digestion in the water industry; how facilities are upgrading to include cogeneration to generate electricity and heat. Barber delves into how certain methods can be looked on to optimize performance such as ‘black-box’ technologies, adjusting the number of parameters, and presents a model based on actual plant performance and bacteriological kinetics to quantify the influence of a number of possible parameters.
